As soon as we heard about LEMA, we wanted to speak with founders Hans Nassrallah and Lema Chehimi. A chic and stylish collection, the brand is set to become a key activewear contender. So what separates them out from the market? We learn more.
Can you introduce us to LEMA – and what it is that makes you special?
LEMA Sports Couture is a modern and sophisticated take on activewear. It’s a concept that fuses high-performance sportswear with luxurious couture. It is THE brand for modern women looking to live a healthy life in style!
Our pieces are carefully constructed to guarantee comfort, performance and, most importantly, a stunning look. What makes LEMA special is its effectiveness and unique personality. It is comfortable, distinctively designed and affordable.
Also, whenever you see a ladybird logo on a pair of killer leggings, sports bra or jacket, you’ll immediately know, it’s LEMA.

How did you go about choosing the brand name?
Lema: LEMA is my first name. Hans and I are the two co-founders and co-directors of the brand. This is kind of a small love story actually. Hans came up with the idea for the brand years before we actually launched it. He always thought my name would be quite memorable and unique as a brand’s name. He was also looking for ways to impress me!
Hans: And I was, still am…
Your fabric is high-end, technical and sweat-wicking. How did you go about developing this to ensure it fulfilled your criteria?
With much research and experimenting. We spent countless hours studying fabrics fit for workout purposes and developed our own elite combination. But learning is never enough… We’re always gathering feedback from our customers and on the lookout for more exciting textiles to keep the body cool and dry while wearing LEMA.
What do you think the core components are for a ‘perfect’ collection?
A catchy variety, an interesting theme and elegant colours. We like to think of our pieces as a rich and ‘all-in-one capsule’ type of collection. All of our pieces have lovely layering and matching options from within the same collection.
Our patterns are exclusively hand-painted and/or designed and our designs focus on edginess in a classy way.

How do you see the active-wear industry changing – and what are you looking forward to seeing more of?
It’s definitely more popular and more and more activewear brands are emerging. This is the activewear era. It is already pushing its way through the barriers of daily wear. It will come as no surprise if leggings ended up replacing denim with women going for comfortable choices in an active and busy life. We look forward to seeing more brands that focus on quality and design instead of quantity and similarity to other brands.
